There were some surprises tonight at the 37th Annual Annie Awards.
First off, as I had expected a possibility to happen, Bruno Coulais’ music for Coraline beat Michael Giacchino’s Up score in the feature music category. The Music for Television award went to Guy Moon of The Fairly Odd Parents over Kevin Kiner’s score for The Clone Wars, and Michael Giacchino’s for Prep and Landing.
Next, in another big category, Writing for Feature, Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach won for Fantastic Mr. Fox over suspected front runner Up.
Best Feature though, did go to Up over Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Princess and The Frog, and The Secret of Kells. Up also took home the honours in the Feature Directing category.
You can see all of the individual winners below. The awards were given out fairly evenly this year with two for Up, and three each of The Princess and the Frog and Coraline, and one each for Mr. Fox and Monsters vs. Aliens.
See all of the winners, (in bold), below.
Congratulations to all who were nominated!
-E. Corrado
